About our school

South Downs Primary School became Taparra Primary School on 1 January 2024.

Taparra Primary School can be described in three words – warm, welcoming, vibrant.

Taparra is a Kaurna word, meaning ‘along the path’. At Taparra Primary School we choose to celebrate our differences, because we’re all on the same path together. Our community values kindness and inclusivity, with strong relationships across mainstream classes and disability unit. We love to find each student’s strengths and help them grow into confident learners.

Located just a few kilometres from Elizabeth Shopping Centre, the school has been providing quality education to the community since 1966. Previously called South Downs Primary School, we were renamed Taparra Primary School in 2024.

Our vision

We are an inclusive school community where children have a safe space to grow. Our dedicated and passionate team supports each student to reach their potential through high quality, individualised teaching. Academic achievement is acknowledged and celebrated.

We promote and foster positive community attitudes and values to help children achieve their personal best. Our students respect each other and their school, with our school values at the forefront: be kind, be safe, be a learner.

The foundations of success at Taparra Primary School are: confidence, getting along, organisation, persistence and resilience.
